Cord Media recently had the privilege of collaborating with indiGO Auto Group and Bentley Rancho Mirage to bring the limited-edition Expressions of Texture collection to life — a project that beautifully fused innovative automotive design with the natural beauty of the Coachella Valley. This exclusive line consists of four bespoke Continental GT Mulliner convertibles, each with a distinct satin finish:
- British Racing Green
- Peacock
- Ghost White Pearl
- Havana
These limited-edition models were directly inspired by the diverse landscapes and signature architecture of the desert, capturing the essence of towering palms, serene oases, snow capped mountains, and breathtaking sunsets. Our video team was tasked with visually conveying the unique character of these vehicles in a way that reflected their desert-inspired design. From the outset, we recognized the importance of finding the perfect environments to showcase each car.
Nature played a pivotal role in the decision-making process. The team understood that the environment would not only serve as a backdrop, but also as a character in the visual narrative.
Symbolic of vitality, tranquility, and connection to nature, each bespoke GT Mulliner was captured in a landscape evocative of its character.
The scouting process took us across a wide expanse of Southern California, from the rugged terrain of Joshua Tree to the winding roads of Highway 74, and everywhere in between. Using Google Maps as a primary tool, we were able to identify potential locations that would help tell the visual story. It wasn’t just about finding a beautiful backdrop; the team needed to ensure that each location could accommodate the logistics of a high-end car shoot, including ample space, accessibility, and the right lighting conditions.
Nature played a pivotal role in the decision-making process. The team understood that the environment would not only serve as a backdrop, but also as a character in the visual narrative. To capture the perfect shot, the timing had to be impeccable. The team utilized an app to track the sun’s position throughout the day, ensuring that we captured each car in the best possible light. Factors like the right angle and height of the sun were critical in bringing out the textures and colors of the vehicles, enhancing the overall mood and feeling that each car was meant to evoke.
Custom dashboard materials inspired by the rugged desert landscape
Each car was paired with a location that mirrored its color and texture. For example, the Peacock Satin Mulliner, with its rich blue hue, was shot at the Salton Sea and Lake Cahuilla — environments that reflect the serene and calming qualities of water. The Havana Satin car, with its deep brown finish, was filmed against the rugged and earthy backdrop of the high desert, highlighting its connection to the natural world. The British Racing Green Satin car, symbolizing life and vitality, was shot in a lush oasis surrounded by vibrant greenery and towering trees, further emphasizing its connection to nature.
Stitching reminiscent of native desert flora
Through this meticulous process, Cord Media’s video team was able to create a visual story that not only highlighted the exceptional craftsmanship of Bentley’s Expressions of Texture collection but also paid homage to the stunning natural landscapes of the Coachella Valley. The final product was a seamless blend of automotive luxury and natural beauty, a true testament to the creativity and dedication of both Bentley Rancho Mirage and Cord Media Company. This collaboration not only showcased the uniqueness of the vehicles but also underscored the importance of location, timing, and attention to detail in creating a compelling visual narrative.
